Canadian Army Conducting Cold Weather Training in Middlesex Centre
January 9, 2025 – London, ON – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces
From January 11-12, 2025, Canadian Army Reserve personnel will be conducting Winter training in the vicinity of the community of Middlesex Centre, Ontario. Activities will include patrolling, land navigation, construction of snow defences, and survival in a cold weather environment.
The exercise will take place around residential areas and farm land in the Middlesex Centre (Lobo area), and will be conducted with the co-operation of local authorities in officially approved locations.
Activities will occur from 7:00 AM on January 11, 2025 until 3:00 PM on January 12, 2025 both during daylight and night time hours. Members of the public may see military vehicles and personnel participating in the exercise.
Soldiers will be carrying weapons with mags loaded but have NO ammunition. This important exercise is being conducted in order to prepare Canadian Army Reserve members to operate and survive in cold weather conditions.
All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to those in the area, although certain areas may be inaccessible during the exercise dates. Members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation.
