Play it safe near area waterways
Several conservation authorities in our area are calling for caution around waterways over the next days.
With warmer temperatures arriving this week to melt the snow pack and rain in the forecast, water levels are high in local rivers, creeks and other waterbodies. Conservation authorities are monitoring the weather, water levels, and other variables for risks of flooding, and will issue additional alerts as required.
The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution around all local waterways. Banks adjacent to rivers and creeks may be slippery and when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from all watercourses.

Additionally - Residents are reminded to check that their downspouts are clear from debris and take other actions to protect their home water from near their foundation.
