Mayor DeViet welcomed everyone to the first council meeting of the new year.
In Brief
During the meeting, Council:
- Approved grants for eight community organizations under the Council Grants program and one community organization under the Delaware Hydro Reserve Fund. The purpose of the Council Grants and Delaware Hydro Reserve Fund programs is to provide municipal funds or other forms of assistance, in limited amounts, to community groups and organizations that warrant municipal support. The municipality received 17 applications requesting funding under the Council Grants program and received three applications requesting funding under the Delaware Hydro Reserve Fund. The amount of funding requested totaled over $54,000, whereas under the program, a maximum of $20,000 is included in the budget each year for this program. - Discussed the Ice Allocation Policy Update and Project Charter. The goal of the project is to engage with the major ice users to develop a new policy that assists the municipality in the equitable allocation of ice time to various user groups based on their residency and participation rates with a focus on prioritizing a ‘youth first’ access to ice time.
Next Council Meeting
The next regularly scheduled Middlesex Centre Council Meeting is set for Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. Please note that council meetings will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre for the duration of the municipal office renovation.
