Prior to the Council Meeting, Middlesex Centre held the inaugural meeting of the new Committee of Adjustment. Going forward, Committee of Adjustment will meet on Wednesdays at 3:30pm prior to the evening Council Meetings.

Mayor DeViet opened the meeting by presenting Jake Ferber with the 2024 Middlesex Centre Proficiency Award. This award is given annually to a Medway High School student for outstanding academic achievement. Congratulations, Jake!

During the meeting, Council:

  • Received the Middlesex Centre annual energy consumption report from 2022 – 2023, as required by the Ministry of Energy. Natural gas consumption decreased significantly between 2021 and 2023, resulting in 18.28% decrease in the municipality’s total greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Awarded construction of the Nixon-Stokes Municipal Drain to Robinson Farm Drainage Limited in the amount of $223,400.
  • Received the Ontario Building Code update for information. Of note are changes to the classification of large farm buildings and a requirement for radon gas mitigation systems. Changes to the building code will come into effect January 1, 2025.
  • Received the budget to actual report for June 2024.
  • Approved amendments to the Parking By-law to include the requirement for paid parking at the Douglas B. Weldon Park.

Planning Matters

Sitting at the public meeting, Council received and reviewed a zoning amendment application.

Next Council Meeting

The next meeting of Middlesex Centre Council is set for Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. Please note that council meetings will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre for the duration of the municipal office renovation.
