Drawing of Glendon Dr. Roundabout

This is being shared on behalf of Middlesex County.

Middlesex County is planning a major reconstruction of Glendon Dr. from London to Hwy 402. Much of this work will take place in Middlesex Centre, through Kilworth and Komoka.

The Environmental Study Report for the project, which includes drawings (maps) for the reconstructed road can be found on the Middlesex County website.

Glendon Dr, Vanneck Rd, Coldstream Rd & Jeffries Rd Roundabout, Realignment of Coldstream Rd

The County's first major work on the Glendon Dr reconstruction is the installation of a roundabout at the "5-Corners" intersection in 2024.

The first stage of the project - construction of the roundabout - starts on September 9, 2024 and run until mid-November at which time the roundabout will be open to traffic. Work will recommence in early spring 2025 and will include the realignment of Coldstream Road, construction of sidewalks and pathways, landscaping, and final paving. The County expects that all work should be complete by August 2025.

Note that all businesses are open throughout construction.

Project Updates
  • Update, December 12, 2024The roundabout is open, including access to Vanneck. Work to realign Coldstream Rd. to connect with Springfield Way will take place in 2025.
  • Update, November 18, 2024 - The roundabout is open! During Stage 3, the roundabout is open, but access to Vanneck remains closed for ongoing construction.
  • Update, October 7, 2024 - The County of Middlesex expects work on the Glendon Dr. Roundabout to move to "Stage 2" later this week. During Stage 2 there will be NO turning on or off of Jefferies at Glendon Dr.  Instead, traffic should use Springfield Way to access homes and businesses.
  • Update, September 13, 2024 - Unfortunately, the increased traffic resulting from the Glendon "5 Corners" roundabout construction detour damaged the speed cushions on Oxbow Drive. Middlesex Centre staff removed the cushions yesterday. (The cushions were not designed for the type and volume of traffic Oxbow Dr. is now seeing.)  Later today, Middlesex Centre staff will installing speed radar trailers and temporary centre line markers in front of the school in place of the removed speed cushions. As always, obey posted speeds and follow the rules of the road in all areas.
  • Update, September 6, 2024 - Construction will begin on Monday, September 9 and is expected to continue to November. Travel through the intersection will likely be slower than usual. Coldstream Road and Vanneck Road will be closed to through traffic near the corner at Glendon. There is also a detour route for Commercial Trucks. Please see construction detour route information below.
  • Update, August 29, 2024 - The County has informed us that the contractor will be starting to put up traffic signs and mobilize equipment the week of September 4, with construction scheduled to formally begin on Monday, September 9. Additional information on traffic pattern changes will be coming soon.
  • Update, June 10, 2024 - On Monday, June 24, Glendon Drive, Vanneck Road, Jefferies Road and Coldstream Road will be closed at the intersection to allow for hydro poles to be re-located.
  • Update, June 4, 2024 - After receiving the required approvals from Hydro One on the relocation of the hydro poles, the County of Middlesex will be putting the roundabout at the "5-Corners" intersection out to tender shortly, with work expected to start later this summer. A one-day road closure is expected later in June to allow for the hydro work to be completed. Please watch for information on the closure date on the website and social media.

Please see the County of Middlesex Project Page for additional information including project stages and expected route changes.
