Middlesex Centre, Ontario, October 17, 2024 – Middlesex Centre Council is pleased to appoint Jean Coles as the new councillor for Ward 1, an area which includes the settlements of Ilderton, Birr and Denfield.
Council announced the appointment at their meeting on October 16, 2024. Ms. Coles fills the vacancy left after the former Ward 1 councillor stepped down at the end of August.
“It’s an incredible privilege to serve our community, and I am eager to work alongside each of you to make Ward 1 an even better place to live, work, and grow,” said Ms. Coles. “I am excited to join Middlesex Centre Council and bring my diverse experience in business, leadership, and community service to the table.”
Ms. Coles holds an MBA from Norwich University, is the owner of several Sport Clips Haircuts franchises, and serves as a part-time professor at Fanshawe College’s Lawrence Kinlin School of Business. An active member of the Ilderton community, many will know Ms. Coles from her involvement with community organizations such as the Hyde Park Business Improvement Association Board of Directors, the Ilderton and Area Business Association, the Home and School Committee at Oxbow Public School, the Optimist Club of Ilderton, and the Board of Directors for Community Futures Middlesex.
Ms. Coles will take the oath of office prior to the council meeting on November 20, 2024, at which point she will officially take her seat on council.
“As your councillor, I am committed to listening to your concerns and ensuring that our voices are heard at the municipal level and that our community continues to thrive, evolve, and grow,” added Ms. Coles. “I look forward to connecting with residents, local businesses, and community groups to hear your thoughts and ideas for how we can foster a vibrant and inclusive community. My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns.”
