Melrose Street Lighting Improvement Project

Date

PROJECT COMPLETED

About the Project

This project will see street lighting improvements along Wynfield Gate and Wynfield Lane in Melrose.

The existing street lights will be removed and salvaged. New lights, up to current design standards, will be added, including new street poles, arms and fixtures. Work will include underground boring and the placement of new conduit, cable and junction boxes.

Reason for the Project

The street lights in Melrose have been identified for replacement based on the poor condition of the existing street light poles and age of the underground wiring. This project was approved by Council as part of the 2022 Budget.

The new street light layout has been designed in accordance with Middlesex Centre’s design standards and industry best practices, and will incorporate energy-efficient LED lights and dark-sky compliant fixtures.

Proper street lighting is important for providing visibility to all road users (pedestrians, cyclists and motorists) at night, in poor lighting conditions, and during adverse weather. Street lighting helps ensure the safety and visibility of road users, and promotes neighbourhood security.
