Winter brings new opportunities for snowy fun at Middlesex Centre parks!
As we move into the winter season, please note:
- Tennis and pickleball court nets will be removed in December or at first significant snowfall. Courts are closed for the winter.
- The back parking lot of Douglas B. Weldon Park is closed for the winter. The front lot is available from 5:00 am to 8:30 pm.
- The paved portion of the Ilderton Rail Trail from Junction Park to the fire hall will be cleared again this winter. (It will be cleared after roads and sidewalks, which have priority.)
- Walking trails in Komoka Park are not maintained in the winter.
- When the snow arrives, Middlesex Centre offers tobogganing hills at Caverhill, Deerhaven Optimist, Delaware Lions, Douglas B. Weldon, and Westbrook parks. Be sure to review the tobogganing safety tips before heading out!
- Playground equipment should not be used if wet or snow/ice covered.
- As Timberwalk Park is currently under construction, please stay out of the fenced area around the new playground.
And a reminder to dog owners... Winter doesn't change the "dog rules" at local parks. Your dog must be on a leash unless you are in a designated off-leash area, and you must clean-up after your dog. Sutera dog waste disposal bins will be available throughout the winter, and staff will also be leaving garbage cans in prominent locations at our parks. We'll also continue to stock the dog-waste bags throughout the winter. Please be a good neighbour, and pick-up after your pet!
