Water Safety Alerts Issued

Play it safe near area waterways

Conservation authorities in our area are calling for caution around waterways over the next few days.

This morning's storm brought considerable rainfall. High water levels are expected in rivers, creeks and other waterbodies. Localized ponding and flooding is possible in low-lying areas including natural floodplain areas, parks and farm fields.

The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution around all local waterways. Banks adjacent to rivers and creeks may be slippery and when combined with fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from all watercourses.
