Aug 18 to 21, 2024 - Members of Council and staff from the Municipality of Middlesex Centre are in Ottawa this week attending the 2024 Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) Conference. The annual conference is a chance for municipalities to learn from other communities and advocate for solutions to the challenges facing local governments in Ontario.
In addition to attending the conference sessions, Middlesex Centre's delegates will be speaking with provincial ministries on topics of importance to local businesses and residents, including:
- long-term plans and funding for municipal roads and water/wastewater services with Infrastructure Minister Kinga Surma
- improved pedestrian/cycling infrastructure along Richmond St (Hwy 4) and access along Hwy 402 with Ric Bresee, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation
- attracting and retaining businesses and industry to Middlesex Centre with Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli
- the Ilderton Arena, recreation infrastructure and sports tourism with Minister of Sport Neil Lumsden
The delegates will also be meeting with Hydro One to discuss servicing for residential developments and improved communications with the municipality.
AMO is a non-profit, non-partisan association that represents more than 400 municipal governments in the province. With more than 2,500 participants, the AMO Conference is Ontario’s biggest event for municipal leaders.
