Enbridge Gas Inc., the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC) and Middlesex Centre Fire Services announced they are working together to improve home safety and bring fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths down to zero.
Middlesex Centre Fire Services received 162 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through Safe Community Project Zero–a public education campaign that will provide more than 14,500 alarms to residents in 75 communities across Ontario.
In Brief
During the meeting, Council:
- Approved pre-2025 budget spending for the Poplar Hill Park accessible swing (capital project).
- Received the 2024 Ministry of Environment, Conservation & Parks annual inspection and audit summaries for the Middlesex Centre’s water distribution systems.
- Awarded construction of the Ilderton Municipal Drain No. 1 to the lowest tender bid submission received from McCann Redi-Mix Inc. in the amount of $50,205.
- Heard updated information relating to the new property classes added through supplemental billings. During the year, three new property tax classes were introduced: New Multi-Residential, Industrial Small Scale On Farm Business, and Industrial Taxable: Subclass.
- Received a report regarding tax adjustments for 2024 and approved the write-off of $8,301 in taxes. Of this amount, $3,886 is Middlesex Centre’s portion.
- Approved a renewal contract for animal control services with Hillside Kennels.
- Denied a request from Providence Reformed Collegiate for an exemption from the Development Charges By-law.
- Directed staff to undertake a review of the current residential parking regulations under the Middlesex Centre Zoning By-law.
