Council Meeting Highlights - October 2, 2024

Mayor DeViet began the council meeting by congratulating Dan Allarie, Middlesex Centre's By-law Enforcement Officer, on being selected as a director on the board for the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association of Ontario (MLEOA) for a 3-year term.

During the meeting, Council:

  • Approved the 2025 Middlesex Centre Council Meeting Schedule. To view upcoming meeting dates, visit the Council Calendar located on the municipal website.
  • Approved a Land Use Agreement between the Municipality of Middlesex Centre and the Komoka Railway Museum.
  • Approved By-law 2024-079 to assume ownership of the park works (Block 58) on registered plan 33M-836 located within the Timberwalk Subdivision.
  • Approved the minutes of the Community Services Advisory Committee held on June 25, 2024.
  • Received the budget to actual report for August 2024.
  • Received the results of the 2025 Budget Survey, which received 395 responses. Of note, 87% of respondents thought the municipal services they received were fair, good, or excellent. Information from the survey will be incorporated in the creation of the 2025 budget.
  • Received an overview of the Municipality of Middlesex Centre’s submission to Round 2 of the Province of Ontario’s Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF). The Fund’s objective is to accelerate the supply of housing across Canada. The initiative aims to see 1000,00 new homes constructed across Canada by 2025.
  • Council also supported the Municipality of Middlesex Centre’s application to Round 2 of the Province’s Housing Accelerator Fund.

The next meeting of Middlesex Centre Council is set for Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. Please note that council meetings will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre for the duration of the municipal office renovation.
