Middlesex Centre is pleased to announce that it is receiving $492,715 in funding from the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) as part of the province’s efforts to help municipalities develop, repair, and expand water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.

This funding will support Middlesex Centre in twinning the Glendon Drive Watermain, increasing supply capacity and creating a redundant (back-up) feed to Kilworth. Five hundred and twenty metres of watermain will be added between Tunks Lane in Komoka and Crestview Drive in Kilworth. Main line valves and fire hydrants will be added along the new line.

“As one of the fastest growing communities in Southwestern Ontario, Middlesex Centre welcomes this investment in our water infrastructure,” said Mayor Aina DeViet. “This funding will allow Middlesex Centre to improve the availability and reliability of municipal water services for existing and future residents of the growing Kilworth community.”

The investment by the province represents 73 per cent of the total eligible costs of the project. Investing in key local infrastructure through programs like the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund and the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program is part of the province’s $190 billion plan to build critical infrastructure and get more homes built faster.

“This investment is a significant step towards addressing the housing needs in Middlesex Centre. By ensuring that essential water infrastructure is in place, we are not only meeting the housing demands of today and tomorrow, but also supporting the growth and vitality of our community. It’s about building a stronger future for the families who will call this area home, as well as for those who already do,” said Steve Pinsonneault, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
